Get ready for Crossroads 2016

Research student pre-conference event

The research student pre-conference event has now reached capacity and with the end of speaker registrations there will be no new registrations for this event.

The pre-conference event is for current Masters or PhD students, or those who are recent graduates of Masters and PhD programs, and involves a full day-long program on the 13th of December.

This event will be hosted by the Institute for Culture and Society at Western Sydney University’s Parramatta Campus and aims to provide a complement to the main conference sessions with a workshop and discussion-based program aimed at current students and recent graduates of Cultural Studies research programs.

Sessions will engage delegates in current disciplinary debates around theory and method in cultural research and provide professional development content around topics such as publishing and academic and non-academic careers.

Delegates will have the opportunity to engage with featured speakers from the main conference program and with leading researchers from the Institute for Culture and Society at Western Sydney University and the Department of Gender and Cultural Studies at the University of Sydney. Featured speakers include Ghassan Hage, Meaghan Morris, Brett Neilson, Susanna Paasonen, Astrida Neimanis, Kado Muir, Katherine Gibson, Gay Hawkins, Chris Healy (editor of Cultural Studies Review), Panizza Allmark (editor of Continuum) and Ken Wissoker (Duke University Press). More speakers to be announced.

The registration includes one day registration to the pre-conference, morning and afternoon tea, lunch and a complimentary bus transfer to and from central Sydney to the Western Sydney University (Parramatta Campus).  A Drinks Reception will also be held on campus at 5:45pm for all pre-conference delegates to attend.
